Shangliang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Northeast Sichuan-Southwest Shaanxi. The Shangliang Fm was named by the Daxian County Party of Geology, Sichuan Bureau of Geology in 1960. The type section is in Yangba and Zhongjia-maopozi, Nanjiang County, Sichuan Province. It is the upper formation of the Huodiya Gr.

Lithology and Thickness
The formation is subdivided into lower, middle and upper parts. Lower part is composed of metamorphosed volcanic rock, volcanic tuffaceous clastic rock and marble, forming several eruptive-sedimentary cycles of 200 m thick. Middle part is grey- dark- grey calcareous slate with marble and crystalline limestone, grading up-ward to the intercalating of limestone with slate, 760 m thick. Upper part is dark- grey, black- grey sericite slate intercalated with marble and carbonaceous slate; 450-940 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in conformable contact with the underlying Mawozi Fm (the lower formation of the Houdiya Gr).
Upper contact
The top is unconformably covered by the Tiechuanshan Fm.
Regional extent
Northeast Sichuan-Southwest Shaanxi. The formation is mainly distributed in Wangcang and Nanjiang counties, Sichuan Province.
